What is The Girl Event?

The Girl Event will educate, entertain and inspire girls; empowering them with excellent tools to establish a healthy sense of self worth. The event is an interactive and energetic experience open to girls between the ages of 13 and 18.

Key Principles Expressed at The Girl Event:

CHOICE. You choose how your life will go.

INDIVIDUALITY. Embrace differences and individuality. Highlighting your unique self unlocks your potential and appreciating others' expands your world view.

RISK. The old adage says, nothing ventured; nothing gained. It is in the unknown where we grow and find our Self.

RESPONSIBILITY. Healthy people own the results in their life. No one else should take the blame or credit for who you are, or who you become.

RESPECT. To most effectively tap into our potential and that of the world, we acknowledge the inherent value of our Self and those around us, from people and animals, to the environment.

The Girl Event Speakers

The Girl Event is a cool, inspiring, and informative show divided into segments. Each show segment focuses on specific tools to help girls develop a better sense of self worth.

My Fellow Travelers

Celebrated teen therapist Karyn Gordon will use an interactive forum to discuss relationships in our lives; stressing the importance of steering clear of negative people that slow us down, and embracing those who inspire and energize us.

Express Yourself

Everyone could use a creative outlet to channel all the ideas and feelings that come our way as we transition into adulthood and negotiate the challenges of life. In 'Express Yourself' KnightFlight Productions will use their unique approach to working with young people to get those in attendance to 'let go and express themselves'!

Leaving Your Mark

Jennifer Botterill, Harvard graduate and two-time member of Canada's Olympic Hockey teams and the current MVP in Canada's gold medal win at the World Championships in April 2004, will demonstrate that a proper attitude and approach provides the best environment for success.

My Body - My Chariot

For something that takes us everywhere we go our whole lives, we can be pretty hard on our body. Despite all it does for us, we criticize it, abuse it, and we compare it negatively to others'. In this module we will be challenged to respect our body, tap into its power, unleash its unique potential and examine the typical notion of beauty.

The Big Picture

We share this space we call our world and each of us has a say in how it looks. In this module we will talk about daring to dream, the power of giving back and how you can make a difference in the world. Child prodigy, Craig Keilberger and his young team who founded Free The Children, Leaders of Today and authored the book and movement, From Me to We will invite you to transform your own life and the lives of people around you by changing your focus from Me to We.
